Working on the new design, bear with me
Posted on Wednesday, April 1st, 2009 under site update, web design news by Dustin Brewer.I’m working on finishing up the new design. I know there are quite a few little things here and there that I’m trying to work out. But overall the site should be working pretty great, cross-browser. I’m just having some interesting problems with Wordpress.
Definitely let me know what you think of the site, one of the major items I’m going to be fixing is getting the blog working exactly how I want it to work. Right now it is outputting fulltext because Wordpress hates me. I’ll fix that very soon, somehow.
The main point of the redesign was to draw more attention to my freelance web design business. As of last December I went completely freelance from working at a local Ad Agency as a web designer. So far I am loving it, I’ll be writing quite a few blog posts about the experience and the transition from employee to being the entire company.
At any rate, keep checking back as the site is going to be getting a lot of attention. Including new blog posts worthy of reading, finally. I’ll also be adding in some case studies on clients I’ve worked on recently. Namely I will be talking about the work I did recently for Hubspot on Twitter Grader and some of the design challenges and interesting quirks of the project.
Update: Fixed the full text issue on the /blog/ page. You have to declare the global $more outside the loop and set $more = 0; inside the loop before the_content(); This link explains it in more detail.

Digging the new design man very clean and readable and I dig your expanded footer. Contact info is formatted in a fun way and the tire tracks texture is a nice touch. Nice job.
Nice Dustin! Look forward to seeing the tweaks on the site. I agree, having a stronger focus on your services than the blog will hopefully increase customers.
Good luck!
Very nice looking site. My little company is based partly in Brooklyn (where I live) and partly just a ways up I-35 from you in Topeka (where i grew up, and where our project manager lives and several of our programmers). We do a lot of stuff for art galleries and have an art gallery website CMS that is built in PHP and uses MySQL. Maybe we could work together on some projects in the future. Always looking for good people to collaborate with. I also teach web design, and i’m bookmarking your site for my students as a good resource.
Hi Dustin,
Nice site. Hows it going with Wordpress? I’m thinking about doing some blogging. Would you recommend Wordpress?
Yeah, I would definitely recommend Wordpress. It is the best available, in my opinion, for blogging. It makes a pretty decent CMS also.
Nice site!! Very clean and efficient! I know what it’s like to re-design a portfolio site and then deal with all the craziness of Firefox and IE. I just completely revamped mine, and still dealing with a couple CSS positioning issues.
I’m a web designer myself…and for some strange reason, I’ve learned to keep cool over the frustrations of cross browser display.
I found your blog by chance . but i have to say that it’s great blog very useful information and very interesting subjects just greetings and good luck
i’m not going i will be always checking for updates.I’m very interested in CMS and all its related subjects.
