Web design links for December 7th

This week has been a busy, busy week. Not just at work though, it seems the blogosphere has been hard at work producing some excellent content for everyone (and not just on this design blog). It seems that design blogs everywhere are hard at work producing web design, CSS and inspirational design articles for everyone. I had to cut this list down a bit to get some great articles I wanted to share out.The week started off great with a new A List Apart series coming out, some of their best content came this week from Lachlan Hunt and Jim Ramsey. They talked about previewing HTML 5 and designing for flow. Both really great topics and just like all of the articles that come from ALA are a must read for any web designer or web developer.

We also had a great article from Pixel Spread about using CSS to make a percentage bar. Not sure when this would be used but a cool little idea. Articles about testing out different interesting things to do with CSS are always fun to read.

I also came a great article over at Sitepoint by Jason Beaird about using typography in web design. Jason Beaird is the author of The Principles of Beautiful Design (published by Sitepoint). This is another article that should be on your must-read list for this week.

I read a great article over at skelliewag about usability and its inherit use as a communication tool between your site and your visitors. An awesome article to re-energize yourself in striving to make your designs user friendly and intuitive.

Finally to sum it all up I read a fantastic article over at think vitamin from Jina Bolton about creating sexy stylesheets. It lists out some fantastic ways to ensure that you are coding your CSS stylesheets as clean and well formed as possible. I enjoy and strive to make use of everyone of these basic princples in my CSS. You should also, at least once you know them from reading her article.

Look forward to some great web design articles coming next week, and I would like to leave everyone with an hilarious blog post from the IE Blog about their choice for naming IE8 (spoiler: they went with Internet Explorer 8).
