Some changes to the site, and a little update

I have made a few alterations to the site that I thought might be nice to point out to some of the seasoned visitors. I have added a functional footer at the bottom of the page that lists the most recent comments across all articles and I have also added a popular article section. Basically the more traffic an article gets the more popular I rank it. Pretty simple and to the point, I will watch it to see how well it works. Also I may end up clearing it our weekly or monthly to ensure that a page that is super popular doesn’t just stay there forever.

Also I realized that HTML Tidy isn’t 100% acurate in xHTML validation. So I corrected some validation issues based off of the W3’s specifications. The site is back to being 100% xHTML 1.0 Strict compliant which should be a nice little treat. It is also (as always) cross-browser compatible. I just did some minor tweaks in some little things that were over looked and how things were displayed. The CSS is also validated now but I use a CSS3 specification of opacity for some internal icons that don’t validateâ but I don’t care. The opacity CSS identifier works on IE7, Firefox and Opera and I think that is good enough for me.Also I added a little about me blurb in the side column, thought it may be appropriate and interesting. I like having my picture on the site also so I thought it would be a nice place to put it.

The schedule right now for articles is only set for Monday and Friday, throughout the week and on the weekends I will just randomly write an article or three. But on Monday I will write a CSS hack / trick for everyone. This should be helpful for those that are having various issues with CSS or cross browser compatibility issues. On Friday I will do a link roundup of some good articles I have read over the previous week. I do take suggestions on these for those that may write and article or have seen a really good article that they want to share with everyone.

Anyway, let me know if there are any features you would like to see implemented or interested to see. Also if you would like to see some genre of article on the site, or have a question, or really just anything. Feel free to comment below or email me and I will write about it.

Your “Back to news” link goes to the wrong place and some of your linkshave two slashes before the filename, but apart from that every looks good:)

The footer works well, in my humble opinion. Personally, I think that many people don’t use the footer of a site to their full advantage. There’s actually a heck of a lot you can do with it, and I think you’ve done something really nice with it. Many people try and do what you’ve done with it, but they make it too small or just graphically difficult to see. That kind of defeats the purpose at the end of the day. Others have just used it to load in a whole lot of adverts – it works, but not entirely. So, great work on what you’ve done there. It looks really nice!

The footer looks nice. It directs new visitors to your older posts. The popular design articles part is also very informative. Your blog has the right things at the right/proper places.
