PayPerPost now a viable (and responsible) sponsor?

PayPerPost has received a lot of bad publicity in the past for allowing anyone to post any article on the most ridiculous blogs and for previously not requiring the author to disclose that they are writing a sponsored article. That has all changed lately with their implementation of Alexa rank, Technorati rank, Google rank and a new tact rating that is based off of votes on posts made by users from sponsors. With all of this in place PayPerPost is stepping up as a leading advertising agency for bloggers, it is getting well on its way to becoming a viable solution for people because of the brilliant structure of the project.

They seem to be attracting much larger audiences as well when they had first started they had very small clients that didn’t care who talked about them just as long as someone was talking about them. The smaller clients typically paid as little as $1 for an article and even the bigger clients at the time didn’t pay anymore then $10 per a post. Times are definitely changing over at PayPerPost though.

They have clients like the US government (notorious for manipulating popular opinion) and other larger clients paying as much as $500 per a post. The top end posts average anywhere between $50 and $200 as long as you have a page rank of at least 7 and an Alexa ranking no higher then 100,000. The top person right now appears to have made $8,000 from PayPerPost so far, it doesn’t disclose through what period of time however. During my short run with PayPerPost I made $600 or so but I wasn’t using it as a full time source of money of course, just testing the system out.

With their much higher end clients available if you have a popular blog you could make a good amount of money for writing about the articles that sponsors what you to sponsor. On a lot of the posts it isn’t required for you to be positive or negative on the subject but just to write about it and link to the sponsor’s web site.

There are a lot of advertising options out there and a lot of them require an obnoxious amount of screen real estate and have to be interesting to the visitor to event click on them with you getting a minimal amount of the action. With PayPerPost it is up to you to be interesting for your reader to keep coming back to your site, as long as you are interesting and can keep users coming back PayPerPost can be a viable option for advertising. Just make sure you let your readers know the article was sponsored.

(This article was sponsored by PPP, the only requirement was for me to disclose the amount of money I had made from PPP.)
