Brand new design, let me know what you think!

I have redesigned the web site again, this time I really like the design. I say that statement like all the other times I hated the design when I published them. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if I began every redesign post with that exact same statement. Promising this one is the best.

Don’t worry though, if you don’t like it I will probably change it in 3-6 months anyway.

I really do like this design though, there are a few things that need a little adjustment that I will be working on over the next day or two but it is nearly done and much better then the previous design.

I included the RSS feed button at the top of the web site and at the bottom of all of the posts. So click it and subscribe to my site for more web design news that you’ll love.

Just a quick note, Dustin, to thank you for sticking up for me on Smashing Magazine. It seems there are a few of their readers who don’t appreciate my logo designer article.

Thanks also, for the ‘floats’ on Design Float. It’s an honour to have you spend time doing that.

    Nice work, Dustin!

Clean, legible, easy to navigate. Onwards and upwards eh? Keep it up bud.

  3. Nice design, clean and informative. Good job. Your site also made http://www.css-design-yorkshire.com

  4. Thanks Chad! I appreciate you adding me to CSS Burst, your css gallery.

I still have a saved draft to send to you for designer spotlight. I’m a slacker when it comes to talking about myself though. Haha.

I like the design. It is much improved. I know we will see another one soon though. ;) That’s how you roll. Did you see your site even made it to http://www.cssburst.com? Congrats.

  6. Thanks for the comments, Dustin. The tiling of the background is a real problem for me, can\’t really decide how I want to approach that.

If I make it fade into a solid color the design loses a little. If I spent countless hours perfecting the transition of my tiled gradient into the tile itself I will lose a little of myself.

So yeah, not sure what I\’m going to do about that. I have a pretty simple solution for the header to be tiled. It mostly consists of me doing it right instead of trying to cheat and everyone calling me out on it. I knew it was a bad idea to try and get by with it last night, haha.

    Dustin,

Actually this was not my comment, but it does sound like something I would say :) Here are my true comments though, I noticed you resized the logo and it looks better. I do agree you will need fix the background, it will be hard to make the background tile with the curves becuase it will either have to fade or become straight at some point. I’m working on a new 24 iMac and it’s really obvious :) . The glossy screen makes it look real Web 2.0, LOL. I’m sure you’ll make it look better, keep up the good work Dustin.

    Dustin, < Ha!

I like the site! Good job.

  10. Yeah, that was one of the things that I need to work on. In the original comp I had the body area at only about 780px wide and then right before I made it live I decided I was going to widen the body to what it is now 968px wide.

When I went to widen the body I had to adjust the top header image, and when I cut it up I totally spaced the way I did the image at the top. Last minute design changes can throw off the whole process.

I\’ll probably fix that later on tonight as well as figure out what I\’m going to do with the tiling background, it doesn\’t tile the way I wanted it to and I was working on it late last night and was very ready to go to bed.

Just wanted to let you know that on a 22in widescreen monitor your top wavy bar does weird things on either end. It looks like parts of your middle section start to repeat. Anyway,I really appreciate all the great information on your site. Keep up the good work!

  12. It looks awesome, I like it a lot more than the last one. Great work :)

This is a really awesome design, I actually enjoy it a lot. I’ll give a more detailed comment after I wake up but so far it looks awesome.
